Some learning to benefit from!:
Futaba
Automatic power up from connector:
This does not work for all Futaba models
If you get no signal try switching the transmitter on (with the crystal removed)
FMS does not see any signal
JR Systems
Please do the following checks to focus where to look:
1] Measure the voltage on the lead from your transmiter, first with your meter on a DC range and then on an AC range. DC should read '0' and AC around 0.25v.
2] (IRQ Interface) With FMS running, the interface connected, but not the transmitter measure the voltage across the 5k6 resistor on the 9 pin D (R5 on my circuit diag). You should get around 13v.
3] (IRQ Interface) Now connect your TX. This should now drop to 8v or so.
If these tests work - focus on the FMS setup - and check PIC Serial Setup or IRQ Serial Setup. If they do not take a closer look at your interface.
Check interface
If you are not getting a signal through to FMS you can check your interface as follows:
1] Connect the input to the +ve rail (diode) and check that the voltage on R5 is more than 12v.
2]Then connect the input to ground (pin 5) and check the voltage on R5 drops to zero.
This will confirm your interface is OK.
General
Double check the setup - including Com port handshaking = none
On computer transmitters make sure it is set to PPM not PCM mode.
On Sanwa RD6000 - make sure it is set to PPR (inverts signal to normal)
Check for a signal on the lead using a meter:
Futaba should give a couple of volts on both an AC and DC range
JR should give 0v on DC range but around 0.5v on AC range
Any other experience - please E-mail me
Thanks, Mike
